One of the first things first time home buyers typically do is to go house hunting. They try to find a neighborhood and a price range that works for them. There is nothing wrong with that. Go get an idea of what works best for you. Before you fall in love with a house, call me! I suggest picking up a copy of a couple of listings for the type of home you like. That way we have the neighborhood, price range, property taxes, and important information about the type of home you are looking for and to have something to refer to when we begin to pre-qualify you.
The first order of business is a phone consultation. What we do is to gather information about you and your credentials to begin the pre-approval process. One of the most important questions I will ask you is to give me a "target house payment". Every month you write out your check, how much do you feel comforatble paying? This helps me in the process of suggesting the right loan size and program for you. I will also request your credit information, job history, cash availablility, and enough information to assess how we can best finance you based upon your unique set of credentials.
Once I have all the information I need, I will run your credit and put together some options for you. Then it's time to meet with you. I meet with all of my clients face-to-face assuming it is within reasonable driving distance. I want to work with you from first call through closing. I am always available to you thorughout the entire loan process and urge you to ask questions. I usually attend all of my closings, even with my past clients. They deserve my attention and feel more comfortable if I am there. You need and deserve a full understanding of how you need to be financed, why you need the particular programs I recommend, and what the costs are. Please understand, I earn nothing unless I close you.
